Today, I have for you a handful of swatches from my most recent Aromaleigh order. I placed the order specifically for the Gorgon lip gloss, but ended up grabbing a few shadow samples while I was there, too.
In the tube, Gorgon looks like a dark, cool-toned purple with very strong aqua green shimmer. It looks a bit intimidating. But fear not! It applies much lighter. Continue reading
I have lots of swatch posts building up in my backlog. This one contains my two most recent Fyrinnae orders, including a handful of shadows, plus Witchcraft & Wizardry lip colors.
Here’s how I did my swatches for this round, and, aside from my yet-to-have-been-posted swatches, I’m probably going to be doing going forward: the top row is bare skin. The middle is over a black liner, to show duochromes. The bottom is over primer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance).
The first batch are some of the Exquisites, which are basically very sheer, chunkier multichromatic sparkles that look best layered over other colors, although I’ve worn them multiple times now over lighter shades just for some shimmer, and they look great that way, too. Note: you will need some kind of sticky base (Pixie Epoxy, Glitter Glue) to keep the sparkle from raining down your face.
Princess For A Day, Beyond This World, Elegant Revelry, Fantasy Creatures
I ordered the Lunatick Labs Hocus Pocus palette almost without thinking. I mean, look at this packaging. It’s so spookily awesome:
And the colors appeared to be perfect for me– a good mix of Halloween brights I could use to break out of my normal shade range. AND A BAT MIRROR, YOU GUYS.
I’d heard good things about Lunatick’s lipstick shades from bloggers I trust, and so I took the plunge on this palette, which is named after one of my favorite movies of all time, Hocus Pocus. Here are the shades:
Sacrifice, Lime Lagoon
Phantom Craft, Omen, Pumpkin Queen
Unfortunately, the packaging was, by far, the best thing about this total dud of a palette. I haven’t been this let down by a product in a long time. I would go as far as to say that the performance of these colors was so abysmal, I would consider the site swatches to be very near to false advertising. Continue reading
A new-to-me company, Ten Three Labs, recently began doing a limited-release box called Phantasmagoria, each “Projection” of which centers on a haunted town, and features a selection of eye shadows, lip products, and perfume. I was THRILLED when I found out that Ellicott City, MD would be Projection Two. Ellicott City is one of my favorite places on earth. It’s a special date night spot for my husband and I– if you’re relatively local, you should definitely stop at Pure Wine Cafe for their truffle fries and their chocolate pot de crème. And the Bean Hollow is hands-down my very favorite coffee shop in all the land. Plus, we are lovers of haunted history, and whoa can you feel it in Ellicott City! So when I snagged a spot on the Projection Two list, I did a happy dance.
My box arrived on Saturday. I picked up the mail on the way out of the door, and like the impatient lady I am, opened it in the car. And promptly lost my list of what was what. Oops. Well done, self. Luckily, Indiedulge posted shots of her box, including the list, so I’m gonna crib off of her for the descriptions!
Without further ado:

The shadows: the left swatch is over Too Faced Shadow Insurance, the right over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Continue reading
Ugh, you guys. YOU GUYS. I am so sick right now. I thought I had dodged the horrible cold my husband had last week, but it is not to be. I look and feel TERRIBLE right now. I can’t work on commissions for other people, so I decided to drag myself out of bed to do a few swatches. (I hate being bed- or couch-ridden. I get so stir-crazy!)
Considering my order from Notoriously Morbid came on Saturday, I decided to swatch their new collection, Daoine Sidhe, based on faerie lore. My favorite! I got the entire collection in sample sizes (though they bumped me up to a full size for one of them), as well as a smattering of other shades and a Coffin Kisser lip balm. They also included a freebie from an upcoming collection.
Customer service-wise, I was pleased. They were moving offices during my TAT, and they sent me an email to ask if it would be okay if they could extend the TAT by two days due to some snafus. Totally okay with me. I have no issue waiting as long as there’s good communication. (Said the woman whose own TAT is being mildly affected by a mega-cold.) Everything arrived promptly and was nicely packaged, along with a coupon code as a thank you for patience. Woot.
Daoine Sidhe Collection
On with the swatches. SI = swatched over Too Faced Shadow Insurance. PE = swatched over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. If you really want to see the sparkle, expand the photos to full size!
Love Reigns: A salmon pink with cool blue sheen.
Love reigns was a petal pink with a nice blue shimmer. It darkens a bit over the Pixie Epoxy, but the shimmer was evident in both swatches. Continue reading
Here are a bunch of mini-reviews of stuff in my queue that I need to clear out, but none really deserve their own post. I have LOTS of stuff in the queue that are just waiting on face swatches, etc. Hopefully I’m going to be able to make some time to do that later today!
Blooddrop Cloven Rose Flutter Body Cream
This is Bloodrop‘s Flutter Body Cream in Cloven Rose. I purchased it from The Rhinestone Housewife. It is a body cream with the most amazing whipped cream texture.
Blooddrop Cloven Rose Flutter Body Cream
That just looks delicious, doesn’t it? Anyway, I found that despite its very light, fluffy looks, this melts immediately on contact and actually goes on quite oily. That didn’t bother me, actually– my HG winter lotion is Cocoa Pink’s Voluptuous Body Butter, which is also quite oily. The issue I had with this is that the scent is so strong it overpowers everything around it. Seriously, it is stronger than just perfume. People will smell you across the room when you apply it. As I work for myself, that’s not a concern for me in general, but it might be a concern for others.
The scent here was a straight up clove and rose blend, very heavy smoky floral. I liked it, but it gave my husband a headache on the two occasions I wore it around him, likely because of how strong it is. It now lives with my friend Abby, who has pledged to love and cherish it. I’d be open to ordering other scents in this formula, but it appears most of the ones I’d like to try are currently out of stock at Blooddrop.
I bought the next item from Rhinestone Housewife as well: Continue reading
When Femme Fatale reopened after the holiday break, I placed a small order for a super-sampler containing past colors of the month (COTM, for short), and also some new shades. In the order was also a sample of their mineral veil, which will not be swatched here, since it’s transparent. I also ordered a mini of Secret Shiny, because oooh pretty. Totally valid reason.
Hopefully I’ll be doing some EOTDs with these soon, but for now, take a peek at the swatches!
