I have lots of swatch posts building up in my backlog. This one contains my two most recent Fyrinnae orders, including a handful of shadows, plus Witchcraft & Wizardry lip colors.
Here’s how I did my swatches for this round, and, aside from my yet-to-have-been-posted swatches, I’m probably going to be doing going forward: the top row is bare skin. The middle is over a black liner, to show duochromes. The bottom is over primer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance).
The first batch are some of the Exquisites, which are basically very sheer, chunkier multichromatic sparkles that look best layered over other colors, although I’ve worn them multiple times now over lighter shades just for some shimmer, and they look great that way, too. Note: you will need some kind of sticky base (Pixie Epoxy, Glitter Glue) to keep the sparkle from raining down your face.
Princess For A Day has a pinkish base with very strong blue shimmer.
Beyond This World is a warm mid-tone brown/tan with strong pinkish mauve and blue shimmer.
Elegant Revelry is a brownish mauve with a strong teal shimmer. If you have Urban Decay’s Solstice in pressed form, this is very similar, although the shimmer particles are much larger.
Fantasy Creatures is a warm toned gold with brown undertones and strong green shimmer.
The next batch are non-Exquisites. Just a mishmash of other shades I was interested in. Capybara and the mystery freebie (it was unlabeled, so maybe an oops shade?) were freebies, hence the fill levels.
Capybara is a muted, deep eggplant purple.
Velvet Vampire applies lighter than it looks here– a warmish, mid-tone coppery red with very noticeable golden glitter.
Purgatory is a deep, velvety wine red.
All Hallow’s Eve is a slightly metallic copper with pumpkin spice tones.
Mystery Freebie is an antique, almost green-tinged bronze with blue shimmer. ETA: Fyrinnae staff chimed in and said it is most likely Shenanigans.
Onto the lip products!
Probably the most popular product that Fyrinnae launched recently is Wizardry, a blackened eggplant liquid matte lipstick with intense blue shimmer.
I found that it goes on really patchily for the first layer, where a brownish base is very evident. A second layer evens it out, and it dries to a true matte inside of five minutes. I haven’t wear tested this one over a long period of time yet, though. Somehow, it looks even darker on me in person, so I’m saving it for chillier weather.
Witchcraft, on the other hand, is my jam. It’s Wizardry’s lighter cousin, and comes in a standard lipstick tube. Fyrinnae’s lipsticks just launched, and they are not the creamiest in the world. Which is okay by me– I didn’t find this hard at all to apply after the first pass. It’s less creamy than a cream, but creamier than a matte, in terms of feel. I haven’t felt as though my lips were uncomfortably dry any of the times I’ve worn it. Color-wise, the brown base is a lot more apparent in this form, so it’s more of a brownish plum with more muted, but still apparent, blue shift.
It’s a great fall shade, and a perfect choice for people who want something a little bit different!
Anywho, I am eagerly awaiting the fall/Halloween release. Apparently it’s full of metallic matte liquid lipsticks (not really my thing), but also a ton of their Arcane (color-shifting) eyeshadows. I’m definitely going to throw some of my money at those!
