I have lots going on today, so I’ll be brief! I figured it was only right to do a beautiful sparkly pastel look on a day where I will be crystal-ing 50 pairs of my Faery Wing earrings.
For this, I used two Femme Fatale colors– Phantasm in the crease, and Moonglow on the lid. I then darkened the crease with the pretty fuchsia from the BareMinerals September Issue Palette. I used Urban Decay Asphyxia liner to line my lower lid, and then brushed a thin layer of Urban Decay’s glitter in Distortion across the whole shebang for a veil of sparkle. It’s super pretty!
The same week I got my Femme Fatale order was the week I also received my second Darling Girl Cosmetics order. It featured a host of new shades, as well as re-orders of shades that have become staples in my collection.
I purchased a bunch of minis, as well as a blogger pack of shades. In addition, they tossed in two generous freebies.
Unicorn, Bubbles, Koi, Nerpette
Freebies: Chickster, Wicked
Frankenstein, Bronze Dawn, Lovelorn, Miranda Stardust
Repurchases: Obviously a Wig, Hope Diamond Dust, Prometheus Stardust
Mary Jane’s Spectral Shift
Hey Mickey, Living Dead Gurl Blush
Time for some swatches! As usual with duochromes, I swatched them dry and over Pixie Epoxy. Continue reading
Here’s look #3 I did with Femme Fatale Cosmetics– I used Flare and Underlord in the crease, Flowers from Flames mid-lid, and Witchwood in the inner eye. I’m sad that the camera didn’t pick up all the green duochrome, because in-person, this was a STUNNER. I’m definitely going to have to use this color combination again.
Used: Flowers from Flames, Witchwood, Flare, Underlord
Re: upcoming posts– I have so many things already swatched and ready to go. The hard part for the next two weeks is going to be finding the time to actually write them! I am vending and performing at a three day festival in two weeks, and I probably have three weeks’ worth of prep and work to do before then, so I’ve got my hands full. But I’ll try to sneak in a few posts here and there if I find a free minute or two.
This morning, I found myself in a rush to get up and out the door. Blame it on my cat, Nox, who was so damn adorable, waking me up to play with him. So we stayed in bed and he wrestled my hand for about 20 minutes, leaving me about 10 minutes for makeup in my morning routine. Generally, I take about 20 minutes, watching one of the previous night’s Comedy Central offerings On Demand over coffee.
This look uses 3 of the Femme Fatale eyeshadows I swatched yesterday: Sunfire, Flare, and Flowers From Flames. The fact that it looks nicely blended has more to do with the shadows themselves than my technique today– I’d like to revisit these colors when I’m not in such a hurry. Instead of liner along the top lid, I used a thin line of Urban Decay’s glitter liner for a little sparkle.
For my lips, I tossed on a quick layer of Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait– if I had time, I’d probably have gone with something more pigmented. But at least it didn’t look clownish when paired with such a bright eye.
Anyhow, pretty colors! They made my eyes look super blue. I continue to be really impressed with Femme Fatale!
Today, I have to share with you my first order from Femme Fatale Cosmetics, an Aussie brand that makes AMAZEBALLS duochromes. Long have I heard the praises of Femme Fatale sung throughout the beauty blogger land, and I finally took the plunge. Man, am I glad I did. I found some real winners.
Lemme start you off with some picspam of the 10 samples, 1 sample freebie, and 1 mini eyeshadow I received.
Phantasm, Sugar Rush
Alpine Skies, Moonglow
Flowers from Flames, Witchwood
Candied Apple, Divinity
As for swatches, I swatched them first dry, and then over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy. Sometimes this was good, sometimes it actually lessened the duochrome. Continue reading
